Based on what I've read, it's pretty good, although probably not quite as tankish as some of the other Vestax gear, but still pretty solid. Definitely a tank, and quite a definite sound quality upgrade than a Numark. Pioneer DJM-909 (Actually similar to my mixer) Can be had refurbished for $600, just a tick over your budget. I've had a similar setup as yours (X1+F1+mixer), but my mixer only had 3 channels, but as the F1 has dedicated volume faders a 3 channel soundcard/3 channel mixer will do the job. First of all you have to decide how many channels you need. you buy the X1 and a soundcrad first, then add the F1 later, maybe you decide 2 decks are enough, you haven't spend the money unnecessarily on a remix deck setup, decide you want to do remix decks later?
